Trentino Alto-Adige

A man alone, not fighting with the mountain but in a deep inner dialogue with it. This is how I conceive mountain-climbing.Reinhold Messner
General information
Trentino Alto-Adige is a region at the border with Austria, from which it separated right after World War I. Morphologically, Trentino Alto-Adige is mainly a mountainous region, with only two plain areas, i.e. the Adige Valley, where the two main cities Trient and Bozen lie, and the Lake Valley. Talking about lakes, this region is full of water reservoirs and lakes: the northern part of the Garda Lake, the largest Italian lake, lies in this region, while the other shores are in Lombardy and Veneto. Many other smaller but not less fascinating lakes may be visited here. Many rivers run here and this may be one o f the reasons why the vegetation is so overwhelming. The climate varies, in some areas it is typically alpine, in some others it is warmer due to the presence of the lakes that make it similar to the climate of other Mediterranean areas. Trentino Alto-Adige is among the favourite destinations for skilled skiers, trekking addicts, hiking lovers and mountain-bikers. Paths are numerous, the landscape is breath-taking wherever you look and nature is almost uncontaminated.
